First Aid and CPR Tickets for Tradies: What They Cost and How Long They Last

A lot of sites and employers want at least one person with a current first aid certificate, and some want everyone CPR-current. Here is what the tickets are and how they work.

The two common certificates

Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) is the standard workplace first aid certificate. Provide CPR (HLTAID009) is the CPR-only component. You do these through a registered training organisation (RTO), usually in a day or less.

How long they last

As a general guide, the first aid certificate is usually valid for around three years, while the CPR component is commonly refreshed every 12 months because techniques and guidelines update. Always confirm the current validity with your RTO and employer.

Why it is worth having

Beyond meeting site requirements, it is a genuinely useful skill in a trade where injuries happen. It is also a small, cheap addition to your resume that makes you more employable.

Where to check

General information only. Confirm current requirements and validity periods with your RTO and employer.
